Oxford Rye 2017 Harvest

The Oxford Artisan distillery uses unique populations of sustainably farmed heritage grain to produce its whiskies, avoiding the use of agri-chemicals to ensure restoration of the land and to support biodiversity. Comprised of grains harvested in 2017, this whisky is built upon a core of 90% maslin (a mix of rye and wheat grown together) alongside 10% malted barley, resulting in an approximate mash bill of 70% rye, 20% wheat, and 10% malted barley. Double-distilled in both pot and column stills, the whisky matured in a combo of American oak and various wine casks, imparting waves of raisins, red fruits, and vanilla to the robust grain and nutty chocolate at its core.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dried red fruits and garden herbs, a touch of liquorice, and mint are followed by honeyed almonds, sticky dates, and porridge with golden syrup.

Palate Toasty notes of oak and vanilla support notes of chocolate raisins and roasted nuts, with wheat biscuits and some earthy coffee notes beneath.

Finish Mocha, charred oak, herbaceous rye spice.
