The Macallan
Scotland
The third darkest bottling in the no-age-statement, sherry matured 1824 Series from The Macallan. Sienna is a naturally occurring pigment, referring not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan's whiskies are all released with no added colouring.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Noticeably bigger than Gold and Amber, orange peel, vanilla sugar and hot cross buns.
Raisins and dried apricots, ripe greengages, frozen currants.
Fruity and slightly spiced with a touch of anise.
This is where the 1824 Series becomes more intense.
Tried a sample at The MACALLEN distillery in Scotland and thought it was nice. Just opened the bottle I purchased and poured a couple of glasses here in California and shared them with my landlord and his wife and they thought it was mazing. So smooth and creamy and full of flavour.
I tried this in a flight of about 15 others and ended up liking this one so much that I paid the higher cost to ensure it was the only think I drank (alcohol wise) the rest of the time I was in Scotland
Spicy, dried fruits, orange and peanut butter are prevalent in this dram. I was seriously impressed after the average Gold. Age statements are important, but quality is king, and this Macallan is quality.
This is what I have come to expect from The Macallan. Gold...tap water. Amber was a wonderful dram, but Sienna is superb. The nose, the palate, the spicy long finish....beautiful. At $155 Canadian, The Macallan Sienna - 1824 Series is worth every penny. Thank you.......allan
Amber is really good but the Sienna is almost perfect.
