The Macallan
Scotland
The third darkest bottling in the no-age-statement, sherry matured 1824 Series from The Macallan. Sienna is a naturally occurring pigment, referring not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan's whiskies are all released with no added colouring.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Noticeably bigger than Gold and Amber, orange peel, vanilla sugar and hot cross buns.
Raisins and dried apricots, ripe greengages, frozen currants.
Fruity and slightly spiced with a touch of anise.
This is where the 1824 Series becomes more intense.
Nicely ballanced with a long aftertaste. All the right flavours. Good value.
Das Sienna ist ne Hammer. Ich will nichts mehr anders, Suchtgefahr. Meik
Amber is really good but the Sienna is almost perfect.
Tastes very good at first except that it feels like it has a higher ABV than it actually has (a sign that it is not very old?), still pretty smooth. The nose and aftertaste are not very good. If you are looking to replace the now expensive The Macallan 18 sherry cask, look elsewhere, or at least buy a sample before you get a bottle. /Joakim
Can't help but agree with the previous reviewer who says this is the best of the no age statements. If not on absolute terms then at least on dollar for taste terms.
