The Macallan
Scotland
The third darkest bottling in the no-age-statement, sherry matured 1824 Series from The Macallan. Sienna is a naturally occurring pigment, referring not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan's whiskies are all released with no added colouring.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Noticeably bigger than Gold and Amber, orange peel, vanilla sugar and hot cross buns.
Raisins and dried apricots, ripe greengages, frozen currants.
Fruity and slightly spiced with a touch of anise.
This is where the 1824 Series becomes more intense.
Best sherried dram I tasted.
Had a few drams of this at a private tasting recently and was very pleasantly surprised. Very sherried flavour, great finish. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because of price. When I found out the price, I have had other, similarly great whisky for less money.
First time in my life I can't finish a dram... But I'm glad to see that Macallan's standards for NAS hasn't changed... Another typical overpriced, harsh and very young jewel.
Good one
Nicely ballanced with a long aftertaste. All the right flavours. Bottle did not survive very long in my cabinet. Time for a new one.
