The Macallan
Scotland
Single Malt
The jewel in the crown of The Macallan's 1824 Series is erm, a Ruby! With the darkest hue in a no age statement range where colour is king, Ruby has spent the longest time in only the very finest sherry casks. The colour has been taken on naturally with no artificial colouring.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Rich wedding cake and espresso, cocoa, a little clove and walnut.
Raspberry coulis, maraschino, prunes, marmalade.
Long and rich, dark berries and ginger.
Big, bold, fruity sherried Speyside.
This is an incredible single malt scotch whisky. Tastes of vanilla and cherries and absolutely smooth. The colour has an incredible ruby hue.
I tried this after my Dad bought a bottle for himself. It's one of the smoothest scotch single malts I have ever had. In my opinion it's not got the complexities of a Glenlivet 15 or 21 yo but instead very easy drinking with loads of flavour from the sherry cask. The colour is immense too. I would definitely consider a bottle of this if I was looking to spend £100+ on a bottle. I've scored this a 10 as I have no criticisms.
Really easy drinking straight out of the bottle. Deep sherry flavor but less viscous than the 12 or 18. At about $200 with shipping it's steep, but when has Macallan ever been cheap. It's a great dram by any standard. Easy drinking with a complex notes of sherry wood, fruits, and almost a cherry liquor finish. Just buy one. You know you want it.
I live in Seattle and received my order in 2 days. So incredible...so dangerous! You guys should get into the flowers selling biz to appease the wives who frequently receive the shipment. The Ruby is fantastic. If you live in the states, do it! The no age statement is interesting and in my opinion it's a 15-21yo. It bears a similar taste/feeling to the 18 sherry/oak. My main point is that 1) I can't buy my current shipment in the US. And 2) if I buy Macallan 18 here, it's $190. Keep up the good work gents! You have a customer for life!
