The Macallan Rare Cask single malt Scotch whisky was introduced to the UK in mid 2015, after being launched in the US in late 2014. It's comprised of whiskies drawn from 16 different Sherry cask styles, chosen by Macallan's Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno. A high proportion of these casks are first fill, and has resulted in a rich, spicy Speyside single malt, bursting with honey'd raisin, root ginger and decadent chocolate notes.

This was quite the surprise. Very complex, first sip was a bit overwhelming, then smooths out after the 3rd or so. Well worth the price. The chocolate notes are very nice. Hits you hard up front and seems to keep going and going with a drawn out complex finish that is just pure delightful.
