Smooth. Very nice and I challenge you to find a equal or better in the same class. I can't believe people are trashing this. Oh wait, hating on Macallan or any "name" scotch is all the rage these days.
Macallen are turning out some god awful stuff at vastly over price ,try Glen grant's 10 yr old instead much much nicer than this over priced rubbish at quite a bit less.
Smooth oily texture with great taste and heat - love this whiskey. Very similar to the Amber - non age defined but for 2/3rd cost - at the moment my favorite by a long margin!
I got a bottle from a friend who prefers a different brand. I fell in love with it. I've had three glasses since I got it but I think I'm going to save it for the close of my birthday every year. I had one this year and I absolutely loved it like it was a very special treat just for me.
when I first opened this a month ago I was somewhat unimpressed it tasted bland and metallic, but now its a different story, the nose is clean and packed full of creamy vanilla sweetness yet clean and crisp on the palate the vanilla comes through again like a rich crème brulee, barley sugar then the finish which I would describe as medium length just a smooth creamy vanilla note is left leaving a warm cosy feeling. not the most complex of offerings but great for a beginner although in my opinion and it is only an opinion, you could get a lot more bang for the buck. e.g. for the novice old pultney 12 or aberlour 10 or for the more experienced ardbeg/dalmore/balblair,lagavulin or coalila are all less money but streets ahead.
