    The Macallan Edition No.2

The second release from the Macallan Edition series is a collaboration between Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno and the three brothers behind El Celler de Can Roca (named Best Restaurant in the World twice by Restaurant magazine). This single malt was drawn from a combination of European and American oak casks.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Mocha, brown sugar, a spark of ginger and some oak-y warmth.

    Palate

Notes of Sherried raisins and dried citrus peels develop, a hint of vegetal oak. Still a little chocolate-y.

    Finish

Spiced fruit cake and lemon peels.

    Good, not great

Good, not great. But interesting to try if you're a Macallan fan. Don't buy for more than $80. I don't think it's worth that- drinks like a 10 year with different spice notes. If you're a smooth operator, you'll still prefer the 12

    Buy it.

I can't say it's the best buy for the money, but, if you like Macallan... it easily beats out the current 12yo bottlings for intense, Macallan-y flavor with some good maturity behind it. It's absolutely packed with deep, dark, fruity sherry flavor at 48.2%. For only a few dollars/pounds more than the 12, this is worth it; heck, you even get more than 20% additional ABV for just a bit over 10% more money. Stock up while it's around -- you will not regret it.

    A definite buy

Get this one before they are all gone like edition no 1. Sweet spiciness and lingering creaminess. Tasting notes above really close to my palate, and the nose is heaven.

    Substitute desert

Awesome expression form Macallan, and very affordable for the quality. Like creamy spicy desert, all the coffee and chocolate lifted with just enough ginger and citrus. Perfume on the nose, heaven on the tongue, really cannot stop it is so morish.
