The Macallan Amber - 1824 Series

Amber is part of The Macallan's new no age statement range of Speyside single malts, which concentrates on colour. The theory is that by using 100% sherry casks and natural colour, the darker the whisky, the older and more complex.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Soft aromatic vanilla, lemon and barley with hints of ginger. Milk chocolate buttons and hints of Sun-Maid Raisins.

    Palate

Surprisingly thick and fruity compared to the nose. Golden sultanas, dates, apple peelings and a dusting of cinnamon. Cereal notes on the mid-palate, joined by mince pies with crumbly shortbread.

    Finish

Fragrant oak finish, with the mince pie notes lingering.

    Overall

The second level in the 1824 Series, after the more citrus-led Gold.

    Easy Drinking Scotch

This one if one of my favorites because it's very easy drinking neat. To each their own and depends what you are looking for. As the person below said it, great for beginners and one a lady could drink. I personally highly recommend it.

    interesting, but pricey

good nose, spicy, tolerable, should've paid extra for jw platinum

    Good.. for guests

It's about average for the price - much better than the typical 12 yo and also quite a bit more expensive, which is probably why they don't want to put an age statement. Finish is a bit bitter, but otherwise it's well balanced and pleasant.

    Don't waste your $$$

The nose is good but after that she's all down hill. Watery mouth feel and the finish is.....what finish. Absolute rubish, save your hard earned money and buy something of quality.

    Mmmmokay....

Not bad. Rather okay. Not a complex whisky. Good for beginners. Great nose, honey, fruits & oak. Palate & finish are veeeery smooth & bitter. Not a great tasting whisky but a okay everyday dram !
