Single Malt
The Macallan
The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old whisky to not just one, but two cask types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt whisky from the Speyside distillery!
I am becoming a bit of a Scotch collector now and I was keen to add a Macallan 18 to both my brothers and my own collections to celebrate a special occasion. I usually use Masters Of Malt for purchases as I like the site. I purchased the Macallan here but then surprisingly found it cheaper elsewhere, a bit disappointed I sent them an email and by the following day the difference had been refunded! The bottle looks great, (yet to try) and the service from Masters Of Malt is very impressive.
Very good don't really know too much about whisky but did enjoy this
Delicious and well balanced sherry! You can't go wrong with this bottle
It’s a let down this one guys, it’s sort of has the notes of older version of the 18 Y/O on the nose and you taste it and it’s just bitter orange with a lot of woody barrel influence. If you can still get it go for the rare cask it’s much better and it does not have that bitterness. This has a long finish I can still taste that oaky tannins on either side of my tongue it’s just not there at all……what a let down. Ok guys this certainly is not worth the price tag because your only paying for the name and not that special Macallan flavours we all know and love.
It delicious, but their Rare Cask is better (my opinion) and less expensive. You can definitely feel the old school oozing through each sip. The nose and finish promise slightly more than the palette delivered.
