The Macallan
Scotland
Single Malt
A rich and well-balanced single malt from The Macallan, aged for 12 years in a mix of American and European Sherry oak casks. This maturation adds layers of vanilla, spice, and dried fruit, creating a classic Speyside whisky.
Here, the proportion of American oak ex-Sherry casks is higher than in the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, but no ex-bourbon casks are used as they are in the 12 Year Old Fine Oak release.
Classic dried fruit territory, if less intense than the Sherry Oak expression. Aromatic butterscotch too.
Creamy and honeyed with some thick-cut marmalade, cinnamon and warm pastries.
Fruity with vanilla and sultana.
Excellent Scotch... I'm an Irish whiskey lover and this is the only Scotch I can really enjoy. It's fruity to the nose with a warm buttery taste and very calm finish. Love it
Hand on heart, when I tasted this Mccallan 12 year old I thought I was tasting and older Malt. It was extremely smooth and a sweet after taste. Highly recommended.
Fruity (but not as much as Glenfiddich 12) not much smoke. Easy drink.
Superb whisky. Full of apricots, butterscotch and even a bit of rhubarb on the finish. I paid £39 for my bottle , and I consider it a huge bargain.
Very, very smooth. Lots of caramel and butterscotch on the tongue. My favorite scotch I've tried so far. I actually prefer it to the 15 year old triple cask. A bit dear at 100.00CAD/750ml. It's the perfect dram for introducing the uninitiated into single malts.
