The Macallan
Scotland
Single Malt
A rich and well-balanced single malt from The Macallan, aged for 12 years in a mix of American and European Sherry oak casks. This maturation adds layers of vanilla, spice, and dried fruit, creating a classic Speyside whisky.
Here, the proportion of American oak ex-Sherry casks is higher than in the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, but no ex-bourbon casks are used as they are in the 12 Year Old Fine Oak release.
Classic dried fruit territory, if less intense than the Sherry Oak expression. Aromatic butterscotch too.
Creamy and honeyed with some thick-cut marmalade, cinnamon and warm pastries.
Fruity with vanilla and sultana.
I had Macallan years ago but stayed avay because so many said its gone down on its craft. Finally had the double cask 12 and its sad to see a great whisky distiller going after profits not legacy.... This not bad but my god is the price ridiculous!! If half the price then okey whisky. Gonna stick to those who still take pride in their products. Lots of vanilla and citrus on the nose and palate. Very short finish, and watery.
Awesome. That’s all
You Like What You Like. to all the haters that say this is an awful whisky, that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. Newcomers do not dismayed from trying based on others opinions. Try it for yourself. I for one like this whisky. It is easy to drink neat or with a few drops of spring water. It is not overly aggressive, nor is it meek and lacking character. I would frame it as a very good single malt. The price point is accurate for what it offers.
Sharp bitter taste. Nothing fruity about it. No body at all. Will not buy again.
I bought the 12 yr old sherry oak. Personally I thought my chest was going to burst into flames after my first sip.
