Reviews for The Macallan 10 Year Old Sherry Oak - Late 2000s

Nice dram but too pricey for me. For £75 plus I at least expect 46% Non chill filtered.

    The price of Sherry casks....

Back in 1989, as a Student in St Andrews the then 10 year old Macallan was the first single malt that I was introduced to... at the time, whisky was in a slump, all Macallan was matured in old first fill sherry casks (one likes to believe), and even the 10 was made with older casks.... roll on 30 years and the industry has changed... old sherry casks for first fill? £1000+ for the empty cask, popularity has driven prices.... a 10 year old Macallan bottled in 1990 which would have cost me £18.99, can be found for around.... £400 rare, but also high quality... This 10 year old is not the same. But its is still a decent and refined dram. £75? well you are adding a £25 premium for the brand, but its the same with anything you buy. I bought it for the nostalgia of a youth... a reminder of those days drinking Malt with friends all night before responsibilities - and it does that just fine and therefore its worth the extra. You will enjoy.

    Завинаги!?

Това при мен е на цената на 21yo Ballantine's. Какво купих ли? Купих ги и двете , по три бутилки! Ех, не завиждайте на стария човек... Не се пускайте от завист! Просто се пръснете...завинаги!?

    very good but expensive

I like the 12 years a lot. Tried the 10 and it was equally good but the price isn't justified. Why so? is it limited in stock?

    Smooth but...

    ...overpriced. Enuff said.
