Macallan 24 Year Old - Forgotten Gems (48.9%)
Macallan releases are rare at the best of times, and this addition to the Forgotten Gems collection consists of just 43 bottles. Matured for 24 years and bottled at 48.9% ABV, it might seem like a lot of work to bottle up such a small outturn, but when the liquid is this good, it's well worth the effort!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Dense layers of old leather and cigar box lead to floral honey and dried orange wheels dipped in dark chocolate. Earthy charred oak, black tea, and a touch of malty minerality rest beneath.
Palate
Dark, jammy hedgerow fruits and marmalade tangle, with creamy peach developing in time. Rich, tannic old oak rides throughout, joined by anise, cocoa, and nutty, earthy spice.
Finish
A long, drying finish, with whispers of smoke, hefty sherried fruit, and burnt caramel.
