The folks at indie bottler Forgotten Gems specialise in unearthing lost treasures of the spirit variety, and they certainly found some special liquid here! It's a 32-year-old single malt from Macallan, that has spent its life in a second fill butt, presented at a satisfying 53.6% ABV, and there are just 42 bottles.

Rich, sweet old leathery oak, creamy notes of baked peach and vanilla, with shortbread, fudge, and biscuity malt alongside juicy apples and pears, custard, floral honey, and chocolate-coated cinder toffee.
Sweet, soft stone fruits and fresh orchard fruits are soon joined by warming notes of cinnamon, before waves of vanilla cream and mellow oak arrive. There's some rich, red berry sweetness that develops beneath.
Jammy berries, malt loaf, sultanas, and buttery toffee cushion balanced notes of pepper and drying oak, with lasting layers of floral tobacco, fruit salad, and vanilla.
