From The Glenlivet's Travel Retail market range comes this fruity expression, Triple Cask Matured Rare Cask! The single malt has been matured in a trio of casks with the majority of the spirit having spent its days in first-fill sherry casks. It's bottled up in small batches, weighing in at an approachable 40% ABV.
Nectarine, apple sweeties, honey and gingersnap biscuits.
Orange marmalade (with the peel), anise, macaroons and more hot ginger.
Warming baking spice alongside a hint of cocoa.
£6.54 - £84.90
No age statement on the packaging always makes me a little dubious but this one looked worth a punt. Not disappointed and very likely to go back for another liter. Very much in keeping with The Glenlivet house style. Light, floral nose, overtones of clove and anise over a body of honey and chocolate. Smooth on the tongue with little burn, sweet, floral, fruity, hints of lemon zest and more clove. Nice, lingering finish like an oatmeal biscuit. Really nice. There are certainly more complex whiskies but this is a fabulously drinkable dram.
Flavorful and gives one the sensation of fall and winter festivity. On the spicy side with the hot ginger and anise notes.
