A tropical expression from The Glenlivet, for Caribbean Reserve a portion of the whisky was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum. The distillery folks suggest adding a splash of coconut water, though we reckon a malty twist on a Mai Tai is on the cards!
Honeyed orchard fruit, tinned pear and fried banana.
Ripe tropical fruit and brown sugar, along with cinnamon pastries.
Pineapple upside down cake.
I use to have a cup of tea and a piece of dark chocolate every evening, now it's Caribbean Reserve and dark chocolate......it is fantastic together.
Don't like it. Strange on the nose and odd aftertaste. I'm not a rum fan but it's not rum I am tasting here (and I am tasting it right now as I type). Not for me, but that does not mean not for you. I think I shall be putting the rest of this into coffee.
Any reviewer giving less than 4 stars for this particular whisky knows little to nothing about Scottish whisky, just try it, I promise, you won’t be disappointed, truthfully you’ll thank me for it
Clearly not a refined single malt, but then it's not claiming to be! Great alternative session whisky that you can enjoy in slightly larger quantities without waking up with a head like a sledgehammer!!
Personally I quite liked this drink. I wouldn't say smooth was a bit harsh straight but I did enjoy the carribean aftertaste. Works well with a mixer I think. Maybe not one for the connesieurs though
