The Glenlivet
Scotland
Single Malt
A tropical expression from The Glenlivet, for Caribbean Reserve a portion of the whisky was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum. The distillery folks suggest adding a splash of coconut water, though we reckon a malty twist on a Mai Tai is on the cards!
Honeyed orchard fruit, tinned pear and fried banana.
Ripe tropical fruit and brown sugar, along with cinnamon pastries.
Pineapple upside down cake.
Because most people who read these reviews want to find quality drams for their hard earned clams, I'm not recommending this sweet n bitter swill. I really like The Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask, and this scotch had interesting notes, but then has such a very bitter finish that they should rename it Scottish Hurling and market it to frat boys.
uh huh tasting notes by the chaps are a little ... embellished? for me, lightly tropical and sweet, has an initial honeyed taste and does finish with light but distinct papaya. I feel like its a little under developed, but then I'm no master. It is not harsh by any means. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and enjoyed a second bottle.
Very mild taste
Very easy to drink, smooth and sweet. Not as “tropical” as I expected from the tasting notes but there’s a hint of fruit in there!
Possibly the most inaccurate tasting notes I’ve experienced on a bottle of whisky. Not as described - quite a harsh finish! I don’t have the most developed pallet, but this isn’t great and certainly not sweet / fruity. Will use for old fashioned’s.
