    The Glenlivet 18 Year Old

This excellent 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenlivet is a classic Speyside dram, matured in a combination of first and second fill American oak and sherry casks. It also won two golds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.

    Palate

Full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs - fennel and spearmint.

    Finish

Long and dry with a spicy oak note.

    Winner of 11 spirit awards

The sticker says "distilled, matured , and bottled in Scotland". Hmm, it feels more like from out of this world...

My bottle is lkpm4122, 1651, 2018/09/26. Opened for a good 1 week, hall of bootle gone. Go figure. All my cognacs XOS, latest 63-65 abunadhs, best jack SBs, woodford, jack rye, chivas 18, zacapa xo, and many more, they all went to pause mode. I could have read you all the stuff from the bottle and the box, but I will go easy on you. Moderately sweet, fruity, slightly woody, the wood is the best, I cant explain in words, but you can taste its about 20y old. Smooth as a MF. This is an amazing step up to a 12y and 15y. I had about 10-20 bottle of Glenlivet 12 back in the days, good batches, before discontinuation few years back. Just can not compare. Glenlivet 18 is very close to being the best I had. I think I will stock few bottles for rainy days, before Scotland exits EU.

try the 21 year old if possible

the gentle smoke doesn't overpower the mix of flavors present in this fine scotch - well worth the price and excellent with a fine cigar

    Perfect

This is my absolute favourite of the speyside whiskies has been for years and imagine the end of the line is nearing for this batch , Hence the quite rapid price hike in last 3 years Like most whiskies , i find stumbling upon them a better experience or an offering from a friends house , Expectations is a killer IMO glad i found this one the way i did
