First revealed towards the end of 2014, the Founder's Reserve single malt Scotch whisky is now available in the UK and will be replacing The Glenlivet 12 year old in many of the mature markets despite initial indications that it would sit beside it, broadening the entry-level options. Named in tribute to distillery founder George Smith, it's packaged in Georgian blue.
Some dates then what at first appears to be a touch of salinity, but is better described as a slightly sharp plum and apricot wine note. There's orange zest, toffee, hints of struck match and chocolate raisins, but before this starts to sound 'Sherried' there's also pear drops, a dusting of sweet cinnamon, honeysuckle and sweet pea.
Fruity, then sweet, more toffee, a touch of anise, then into milk chocolate Flakes, banoffee pie and apple turnovers.
Creamy toffee to the fore now, a little oak and sweet barley sugar warmth too. Milk chocolate raisins linger.
Perhaps a little sweet, but it would work well with ice where the sweetness would be slightly suppressed - and before you shudder with disgust, Alan Winchester said that he liked his with a little ice sometimes too. And if it's good enough for the Master Distiller...

Rubbish, absolute dross, an insult to malt whisky, I'd far prefer Famous Grouse whisky blend.
Had one glass then poured the.rest of the bottle down the pan. On a par with Jameson, no nose, nothing to it apart from alcohol burn. Only good thing was the smell of ethanol for a few minutes, made the Jon smell cleaner Utter waste of £24 (on offer),
I prefer this than blended whiskeys like black label and so on. I recommend this one to drinkers who enjoy a smooth sweet tangy taste in tongue. With some ice from the bags you buy at the licors store, not from the freezer and a short glass , walla! enjoy nice Scottish whiskey, nice price $32. Here in USA?? If you like something better, pay the price and don't talk shit, every one has a different taste, so respect ✌. CHEERS MATE !??
? this tastes like firewater, yes their are notes of this and that if you try hard to look but it’s tough to drink and I won’t be buying again. The question now is what to do with a nearly full bottle of whisky I can’t drink.
Really? Is this really 'The Glenlivet', as stated on label and crafty 'Founder's Reserve' packaging? Harsh. Lacks complexity. The faint nose is enough to make one think one has a severe head cold. This is sweet, salty paint-stripper. Very immature. Alcoholic burn. No depth. No character. So poor in fact, that it is tempting to see if my car will run on it. I certainly will not be repeating this enormous error. It is an insult to the term 'Single Malt' - and an insult to Glenlivet (which has never been the best, even with its vastly superior 12 year old). Glenlivet has sold out. I'll not buy another bottle. Goodbye.
