The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve

This 15 year old expression from The Glenlivet, was matured in French Limousin Oak casks. Limousin Oak is a popular choice for maturation of Cognac.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

The nose is rich and oaked. There are notes of chewy resinous wood with a well-balanced acidity. Fudge and Madeira with apple crumble with calvados.

    Palate

The palate is full and rich with winter spice; cinnamon and cloves, thick oak with developing aridity.

    Finish

The finish is long and dry with a peppery note.

    Phenomenal

Incredibly smooth. One of the best in this price range.

    My favorite Scotch

The person who said this tastes like Elmer's Glue was obviously sniffing glue, not drinking this fine Scotch. If there's anything better I can't afford it.

Nice cherry peppery oak, bit of a sharp end.

I've been meaning to try this for years but never got around to it. I get a nice heavy cherry and oak smell, and the flavor is spiced with bitter cherry, oak and butterscotch. Smooth as butter with a spicy, peppery finish. Sweet but not too sweet. Bit harsh at the very end though, sears the tongue.

    Tastes like paint

After reading the reviews I was excited for this one. Ended up tasting like paint and Elmer's glue...

    Superb suttleness

This is probably the nicest malt I have tried to date.. Ive searched for many years to find a malt I can truly say I love.. (taste & price important) well this it it. Well done Glenlivet. Ticks all my boxes. If anyone loves me out there well this is indeed my perfect christmas/birthday present.
