A whisky created in honour of the Glenlee, a ship built in 1896. It was one of ten steel sailing ships commissioned by Archibald Sterling & Co., and sailed round the globe four times! In the 1980s, the boat was forgotten and derelict, but today it is fully restored to its former glory. You can find said ship next to the Maritime Museum at Glasgow Harbour. Anyway, onto the whisky! The Glenlee is a delicious blend of Scotch whisky, matured in a combination of American oak and casks from Spain for three years.
Malty, soft spices with light honeyed notes and a touch of spiced oak.
Aromatic and creamy, a touch of orange zest with mellow vanilla and toffee.
A warming, barley-forward finish.
A decent blend, I’ve given 4 stars as its on par with much higher priced alternatives. Excellent value for money
I was sceptical about blended scotchs but this one changed my mind. Very nice dram for the money. Much better then Red Label. Young whisky with some character and sweet toasty finish. Not oily. For the price very nice
Another great find at this price you can't go wrong. Not normally a blended drinker but this is the tops.
I didn't find this smooth at all. It's pretty spicy and hot. Tbh, I couldn't drink it comfortably without a fair bit of water. Decent enough malt and toffee on the palette. For me, this is more suited to go with a mixer. Would probably work in a whisky mac.
Nose is young, mild and very inoffensive. Palette is soft malt, sweet grain and spice. Finish is quite long and spicy, with notes of pepper. Nothing special here, but it's a perfectly sippable young scotch blend.
