The Glasgow Distillery has released unpeated and triple-distilled single malts matured in Tokaji casks before, but this is the first time the peated spirit has seen this distinct style of cask. A marriage of two casks 18/961 and 18/962, the whisky was filled on 14 March 2018 into virgin American white oak for two years and eight months before it was moved into Hungarian Tokaji Casks for a further two years and eight months. On 27 July 2023, a total of 615 bottles were filled at 53.4% ABV. Tokaji is a Hungarian sweet white wine from the historic region of Tokaj.
It's got this great old Islay whisky quality to it, a blend of rock pools, soot, cured meat, and tropical fruit, but without the medicinal element. There's also apricot jam, cashew nuts, salted caramel ice cream, and clove-studded oranges.
Salted peanuts, stone fruit, brownie mix, orange rind, charred pineapple, custard, and Frazzles.
Lingering bacony, meaty notes with ashy smoke as well as fudge and tropical juice.
