A fabulous limited edition bottling from The English Distillery. The single malt was distilled not once, not twice, but thrice, hence why the expression has been dubbed Triple Distilled! Light, creamy stuff all the way from Norfolk.
Orange marmalade, chocolate sponge cake with vanilla custard, notes of anise and condensed milk.
Another helping of vanilla custard, with butterscotch, lemon drizzle cake, bitter dark chocolate and honeyed pastry.
Buttery toffee and liquorice on the finish.

It’s cheering and warming from the first sip. Triple-distilled, it has the smoothness of an Irish blend. Single malt, it has a distinct character, like one of Isla’s more subtle offerings. There are notes of orange and cinnamon, a hint of sweet ginger. This is a cheery glass.
It’s absolute rubbish. It’s not even worth half a star. It’s flat like when you leave whisky in a glass over night in a glass. It’s got hardly any flavour and both this and the virgin oak offering have a bitter taste. It’s watery the flavour is just like watered down whisky but with 46% alcohol and weak bitter flavour. It’s alcohol with not much flavour and a bitter taste at the finish. I feel angry and let down so much, I feel so stupid knowing that I bought 2 bottles from this distiller and both are very similar (virgin oak cask) and this one. They must be so young but even then Scottish whisky that’s very young tastes a thousand times better than this. Please don’t buy this just buy a sample if you won’t listen to reason and save your money and heart ache. I’m just giving these bottles to someone who will use it for mixing with coke because that’s all it’s good for. I’m done with this and just want it out of my sight. I’m livid with this whisky. No stars at all. It’s closer to vodka than whisky.
A bit of a revelation this whisky I have to say. In general I prefer the peated whiskeys but having enjoyed the tour with my wife who has never liked the drink we both sampled this version. And... my wife loved it. I was somewhat surprised to say the least but she has now been converted to the small evening tipple of The English Triple Distilled with a small addition of water. The reason for this is clear now. It's simply a perfectly smooth and light whisky that has a superb balance of flavours and no harshness. That makes this a perfect whisky for someone who has a palette that generally favours a more subtle drink which, this certainly is. Bottom line is that if this can convert my wife - never a whisky fan in her entire life - then it must be a bit special.
Great whisky, which is light on the pallette with sweet notes!! Coming from a Scotsman, a glowing review of a whisky called 'The English' is high praise indeed!!
