From The Character of Islay Whisky Company comes a mysterious Islay single malt that goes by the name Aerolite Lyndsay. The peaty whisky has been sourced from an undisclosed distillery on the island, though we have been told that the liquid was aged for 10 years in a mixture of bourbon barrels and Spanish oak sherry quarter casks, which sounds thoroughly delicious. It's bottled without any additional colouring, or any of that chill-filtration, too.
Oh, and the name? If you havn't Countdown-ed it out already, Aerolite Lyndsay is in fact an anagram of the words ‘ten year old Islay’! See what they did there? Very nifty.
Lots of maritime peat, with notes of iodine intertwined with honey sweetness, paprika, salted caramel and old bookshelves.
Smoke returns alongside mint dark chocolate, espresso and new leather, with honey and soy sauce mixed together.
Boiled mint sweeties, liquorice allsorts, bonfire smoke and toffee penny, with a pinch of salt.
Love it when undisclosed distillery bottles become available and this one doesn't disappoint! Incredible smell and a taste which just says crikey that's a good whisky!
I havent tasted it yet. But it shares it's name with me (best spelling too) so it must be fantastic
Just a great Islay for popping the cork with friends and enjoying over an evening. Not too challenging or heavy. Crisp and defined Islay flavours to drink rather than think about too much. Great value.
Very nice for the price. I am no expert but would be amazed if this is not from Laphroaig.
Very light colour, peaty on the nose but with a harsh alcohol undertone. Not pleasant to drink, it claims to be a single malt so I don’t doubt it but tastes like a blend with a lot of grain whisky and the overall impression is very disappointing. I wanted to try it but would recommend Lagavulin every time over this or Laphroaig if you like a stronger peat but I would recommend trying it first to see if it is to your taste. I won’t be finishing the first glass of this, sorry but it is a cheap scotch.
