    Speyside #1 50 Year Old - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

A marvellous mysterious Speysider, matured for 50 years and independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. After over half a century of maturation, this whisky has taken on a rich, dark hue and a spectacularly decadent flavour profile - but the Boutique-y folks aren't giving away any clues as to which distillery in Speyside it came from. Such mystery. Much old. Very polished oaks. Wow.

Batch 1 is a release of 604 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Bundles of thick, chewy dried fruits and dry, autumnal spices give this dram a Christmassy opening. Then earthy oak, milky coffee and rancio notes develop. There’s plenty of vanilla, butterscotch, old leather and green tobacco leaf underneath, with just a faint hint of smoke.

    Palate

Toffee fudge, dense treacle and molasses add a sticky, yet succulent sweetness which then cascades into darker, deeper tones of mocha, dusty oak and stewed blackberries. Zesty Seville marmalade adds pep among a tang of rhubarb and plenty of silky oak tannins against a backdrop of aromatic herbs and gentle bonfire smoke.

    Finish

An exceptionally long and sumptuous finish concludes with drying, ancient oak and a little black fruit compote.

    Overall

This beauty just oozes Speyside sophistication. It tastes as good as it looks, too...

    may be glendronach~

Really impressed and appreciated your boldness of redefining a “highlander malt” to “speyside”... Not many have the courage to do so...

    Nope

    50yo Macallan for 700€... I think not.

Master of Malt Customer Aug 16, 2018

Worth the value for 50yo bottling. Macallan or Balvenie, who cares? The upmost is the liquid gold that makes it great!

Hmm... the trace of taste is more likely to be Strathisla/ glen grant/ glenfarclas as the three of these have good terms with MOM. Plus the profile of earthy and dusty oak, very high possibility.

    Don Aug 12, 2018

    Macallan?

Another site had this listed as Macallan. Very few Speysiders that can go 50 yrs...Balvenie, Glenfarclas, Glen Grant, Glenfiddich. Even fewer that have in sherry cask: Glenfarclas or Macallan
