That Boutique-y Whisky Company has over a decade of independently bottling single cask, small batch, limited edition whiskies under its belt, and now it's time for some Boutique-y "core" releases to join the collection.
And no need to check your eyesight, this new range are all in 70cl bottles!
This impressive eight-year-old Islay single malt packs plenty of peaty punch, with waves of citrus, stewed fruit, and vanilla supporting pungent, earthy smoke.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels (in this case, it's a Boutique-y deer on each label!)
Zesty citrus peels, earthy peat smoke, and a touch of sawdust are joined by crumbly fudge, prunes, and robust roasted malt.
A big peaty welcome, with drying oak leading to sweeter notes of poached stone fruits and oaken vanilla.
Things remain fruity, with juicy stone fruits and zesty peels backed by dense smoke, and a touch of pepper.
Big toffee and butterscotch onthe nose, a hint of grassyness; lots of bourbon influence. Plenty of char and vanilla in the mouth, a waft of peat smoke. When watered, a s touch of the ardbeg ashiness. Not enough iodine for a laphroaig. I Wanted it to be a bruchladdich but it's not. The finish is like a lagavulin, not a trace of the caol in there. Tastes young but with little alcohol burn. A very pleasant drop for after the pub, or with a buttery cheese like daffinoise.
