Another mysterious Islay single malt independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! For Islay #4, the Boutique-y bunch have adorned the bottle with a scene from the Islay Distillers Boat Race 2008, with a few familiar faces from a few familiar Islay distillers setting sail in their trusty vessels. But who's that in last place? It's our very own Jake Mountain in his dinghy, putting paddle to the metal and getting nowhere fast.
Batch 1 is a release of 1,586 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Apple wood on a charcoal fire brings a herbal, sweet smokiness through which strawberry, rhubarb and citric brightness emerge. Floral honey, fluffy Scotch pancakes and a little dark fruit emerge.
More bittersweet charred woodsmoke, lemon peel and dried pineapple initially, with sweet tobacco and green grapes developing.
Dry, smoky and lingering.
Islay by name, Islay by nature.
Got this one as a gift and very happy. Very elegant, sweet and bitter at the same time with notes of dark chocolate, toffee and islay smoke. Trying to make this bottle last longer but probably just have to buy another one!
I love iiiit
A rather superb, young and flavourful Lagav- Oops, can't say that.
Outstanding whisky and most certainly, um, Avian Gull (credit to Dramfool).
A bear hug of a whisky, and I'm 99% confident this is a rarely seen indie from Islay's south shore. Yum.
