You can always trust That Boutique-y Whisky Company to bottle up some brilliant whisky – the indie bottler has been at it for over a decade, releasing some truly superb single casks, small batches, limited editions. This Canadian corn whisky is no exception, except for the "limited edition" bit, because this one forms part of the Boutique-y Whisky core range... all in proper, grown up, 700ml bottles!
Matured for eight years, entirely in oloroso casks, it's packed with layers of sherried fruit, toffee ice cream, toasted almonds, and popcorn.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels (in this case, it's a Boutique-y deer... NO IT's A MOOSE this time! Ah. Canada. We get it.)
Buttery layers of raisin studded fudge and blueberry muffins, mellow oak and honeyed dates, plus some candied pecans in the distance.
A medley of cooked fruit, vanilla wafer, and toffee ripple ice cream, with almond butter, popcorn, and stewed apricot.
Butterscotch and charred oak are joined by a touch of peppercorn warmth for the finish.
My 2nd candian whiskey after Crowne Royal (totally OK). Really got into (3x bottles) this then weirdly when a friend said it tasted like maple syrup and that's all I tasted (not a crazy fan). Still, really fantastic value for money - great quality.
This is the only Canadian whisky I’ve liked, so far. Found a sample in an advent calendar and love it. Easy drinking for bourbon lovers and the sherry notes are a nice touch. Sadly the finish is quite short.
Took a chance on this after seeing a Y/T review, and don't regret it. Great flavours - buttery, sweet, touch of spicy heat and yet another 'moreish' whisky that won't stay on the shelf for long!
Great flavour at a reasonable price
the flavour profile is spot on, could imagine this being very dangerous to accidently finish without noticing, its a bit sweet (not a bad thing) could imagine making some awesome toffee cocktails with this
