Master of Malt exclusive!
We teamed up with the folks from that there That Boutique-y Whisky Company to create something special to celebrate our trip to Fèis Ìle 2019, and this is the delicious result. It's a brilliant blended malt made exclusively with whisky from Islay distilleries! Which distilleries you ask? Well, the "All Islay" name could be a hint, and those yellow points on the label seem to coincide with the locations of every distillery on Islay releasing whisky today (and one particularly notable closed one)...
Whether you're able to visit the famous whisky isle this year or not, you can be taken there by this taste of Islay!
There are loads of familiar faces on the label too, from 1980s investigators (obviously) to Felipe and Paul off of The Rhythm and Booze Project who are always a welcome sight (and sound!) on Islay. The midges, however, are not quite as welcome.
Batch 1 is a release of 182 bottles.
Toasty and coastal. Buttered crumpets, coal fires, cut grass, some waxy peels and just a hint of leather (chamois?).
Enjoyably oily and malty. Familiar peat smoke richness balanced by cooked apple and apricot. Peppery heat grows.
Final flourishes of floral heather, ash and damp oak.

What a fabulous taste of Islay this blend is. Reminded me of the 12 Year Old Ardbeg I had last year with a touch of freshness an a long lingering finish.
