Teeling doesn't tend to shy away from interesting cask experiments as its Wonders of Wood series demonstrates. The second edition takes a single pot still Irish whiskey, made with a 50/50 split of malted and unmalted barley, and pops it into casks made of virgin Portuguese oak, which is known for its high tannins. This should be boisterous, interesting stuff.
Rich marmalade, oaky spice, old leather, and orange peel.
Warming with cloves, nutmeg, and toasted oak joined by malty vanilla, orchard fruit, and tobacco.
More citrus, spice, and oaky warmth.

I like Teeling Whiskey. I get the hint of marmalade with cloves and nutmeg and the peppery warmth. But, I'm a little disappointed and do not think this is worth the extra money over and above the cost of a bottle of their ordinary Single Pot Still Whiskey.
