Teeling’s classic Small Batch blend of malt and grain contains whiskey aged in rum casks, but for the Sommelier Selection that's replaced with wine casks from around the world, hence the name. For this edition, red wine barrels from the Portuguese Douro Valley were used, specifically, wine pressed from the harvest of vines that were over 25 years old. Expect some lovely dark fruit and spicy notes in a whiskey bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered.

I get a fruity, mildly peppery essence, (I would describe it as), rather than spicy, coming from the red wine barrels. There's, also, a hint of vanilla. Then, after swallowing and breathing out the after taste of raisins.
While enjoying a layover in Dublin on my way back to the USA, I stopped at duty free and found this tasty whiskey. I am a huge fan of Teeling, small batch is my go to, and the gentleman there gave me a sample and I loved it!! Bought a bottle and am currently enjoying it. Highly recommended!!! Well done Teeling!!
