The Teeling folks made history by bringing whiskey distillation back to Dublin with its very own Teeling Single Pot Still expression, which was completely distilled in Ireland's capital - the first time this has happened in nearly half a century! It's made from 50% malted and 50% un-malted barley, a rather historic and traditional Dublin mash bill, bottled at 46% ABV without any chill-filtration or additional colouring.
Bourbon vanilla, stewed orchard fruits and a classic pot still spices initially, followed by dried herbs, leather and a hint of sherried funk. There’s an underlying sweetness from marshmallows, apricot yoghurt and banana milkshake.
Lots of creamy pot still character forms the core of the palate, from which notes of toasted barley, latte and salted caramel emerge. Then there’s an array of dark fruit, winter spice and rich nuttiness underneath with touches of sharp red apple and milk chocolate emerging over time.
The chocolate and coffee notes become darker on the finish among stone fruit, a hint of oak spice and a touch of spearmint.
Very overpriced for the quality which is like any good malt you can pick up for £20 to £30 or even some good blends. Double the price for the same experience to be sure.
Didn't want to say anything bad but this is mediocre stuff. Silkie is much better. Or tyrconnel.
I wanted to find a really nice Irish Whiskey, so I read through a lot of the reviews, and now I'm leaving one of my own! I usually drink Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I had never heard of "Single Pot Still" before. I am a convert to this lovely, smooth Irish Whiskey. And, now, I want to try more of the Teeling range of Whiskey's, particularly their Single Malt. And, I would love to arrange a visit to the Teeling Distillery on a weekend break to Dublin sometime. That's how much I like this Whiskey! It just tastes lovely!
Beautiful new Take on Irish Single Pot Still. Delighted that they are taking this down a different avenue
