Irish single grain whiskey from Teeling! There are only an elite few Irish single grain whiskies out there at the moment, but Teeling went ahead and made theirs unique by maturing it in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon casks. Deliciously sweet with a good deal of spice and fruit hide within the Teeling Single Grain.
Honeyed apple flesh and red grape, sweet and slightly floral with fragrant vanilla and spice, evaporated milk and brown sugar.
There's treacle on the palate, but it's light and buttery with dried cranberry developing.
Into golden syrup tart and sweet egg custard now with spicy cereal.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable grain whiskey, sweet and fairly light but full of flavour.
Nose: chocolate Palette: cool mint, chocolateFinish: clean & cool, smooth || Great sipping drink for everyday drinkers for the price. Whereas many drinks are warm, this one is cool.
Received this as a sample in a tasting set, and was wowed by the full flavor and complexities that can exist in smooth, buttery sweetness start to finish. I didn't have enough in the sample to find the dried cranberry on the palate, but perhaps I'll get myself a bottle and continue that journey. This gem is a 'must have' in my opinion!
What a surprise! Very rich and complex, did not expect this at all considering it's a single grain. Lot's of flavour, spices and richness. Added as a favourite amongst other such as Aberfeldy 12 and Glenfiddich 12.

I had the pleasure of tasting this little beauty at a tasting with Stephen Teeling at the Soho Whisky Club before Christmas! I was blown away by the depth of the grain and flavour infused by the wine cask! Maize as a grain is the way forward! Loved his description of it as his 'Breakfast Whiskey'!!
