Here's something you've likely never seen before - an Irish whiskey finished in ginger beer casks! Teeling teamed up with London's Umbrella Brewery to create this expression, which has imparted rich, sweet, spicy notes to the excellent whiskey. If you're looking to try something unique and excellent, you've found it.
Honeycomb, fresh ginger root and a touch of treacle.
Melted butter, custard cream biscuits, another helping of spicy yet sweet ginger, leading into cinnamon and dried orange peels.
Festive spices and fresh vanilla pod.
You can definitely smell and taste the ginger! I really liked this dram and I wasn’t expecting to…… unusual but very nice.
Once you've had a few sips you get the hint of the lovely warmth and spiciness of the ginger on your tongue. It does taste like crystallised ginger, but only a mild taste, not overpowering. If you like ginger beer, then you'll love this Ginger Beer Cask finished Whiskey from Teeling.
An unusual Drop. My wife enjoyed it, I didn't. I love ginger beer but for my taste this was too removed from a whisky. Nearer to a dry ginger liqueur. Teelings Pineapple Rum Cask is in my top 10. I can't criticise it just because it's not my cup of tea but I won't try it again. My wife has unopposed dibs on the rest of the bottle
A very good whiskey, a very relaxing drink to sit with in the evening, and share with friends they're lucky...
I often struggle to describe the flavours I am tasting, but I have to say there is an unmistakable hit of ginger in this beautifully sweet whisky. It reminds me particularly of crystallised ginger and really lingers with extra warmth. So impressed, a great idea from a great distillery.
