A cask strength follow-up of the delightful Blackpitts Peated Single Malt Irish whiskey, this edition was double distilled from heavily peated malted barley and then aged in bourbon barrels to preserve all that smoky flavour. It was then bottled at a cask strength of 56.5% ABV. A huge, peaty treat from Ireland.
Earthy smoke, red apples, toffee, and a hint of floral notes.
Oak spice prickles through more smoke and orchard fruit with a touch of salinity underneath.
Long and savoury.

You definitely get the 'Big Smoke' from this Teeling Blackpitts Cask Strength Peated Single Malt Whiskey. The smell and taste of a coal fire! Just like sitting by a cosy ingle nook fireplace, breathing in the smokey atmosphere. But, with the 'Big Smoke' comes more harshness. And, to be perfectly honest I think I prefer the triple distilled smoothness of the regular Blackpitts over this Cask Strength version.
