This right here is the fourth release in Teeling's Renaissance Series, which celebrates the return of distilling in Dublin and Irish whiskey's renaissance. It's an 18 year old single malt whiskey, which has enjoyed a rather interesting finishing period – it spent 18 months resting in Pineau des Charentes casks! If you're not familiar with it, Pineau des Charentes is a French fortified wine made with grape juice or must, blended with Cognac. It's brilliantly vibrant and fruity, and those elements have made their way into this ace single malt!
Candied peels, fresh grapes, ginger, hints of warm oak and vanilla.
Zesty at first with fresh pineapple and more citrus, followed by another helping of vanilla with a floral touch to it. Develops into honey and nectarine.
A dusting of nutmeg and clove, with red berry sweetness for balace.
