Teeling's third limited release celebrating the revival of whiskey distilling in Dublin marks the 18-month anniversary of the moment it was brought back - when Teeling distillery opened in The Liberties. Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels, it's rather unusually been finished in Pineau des Charentes barrels! Pineau des Charentes, if you don't know, is a a type of fortified wine made from grape must and Cognac eau-de-vie. Very interesting indeed.
Subtle bouquet of honey and hazelnuts with rich dark chocolate undertones.
Dried fruit and toffied pineapple giving way to toasted almonds and dark chocolate.
Balanced, rich mouth feel with a lingering soft sweetness.

I bought this directly at the distillery. Sweet on the finish due to the Pineau de Charantes cask maturation. A very accessible bottle with enough complexity to please many of the most particular. connoisseurs. A great Irish Whiskey.
