Nose: Sultanas, apricot jam and pineapple chunks break through dusty malt and apple butter. Polished oak and vanilla custard simmer over almond croissants, raw cinnamon and a little lemon zest. Crisp barley and sugary cereal add a light, almost whimsical edge.
Palate: Subtly powerful, a deep sherried flavour brings dried figs, mulling spices and woody tannins. Rich licks of treacle toffee lift dry fruitcake, while oily walnuts and polished oak add sublime texture. The tart sharpness of green apple lingers in a rancio element.
Finish: A consistent, bitter grapefruit peel note lingers among some melted almond butter.
Overall: Tamdhu leave no stone unturned – every bit of this dram has depth, class and flavour. Wonderful.
