The talented folks at Tamdhu know all about producing deliciously sherried single malts, and have a wealth of casks at their disposal. Here we have a limited edition 18 year old expression, matured in a combination of American and European oak casks that previously held Spanish Oloroso sherry. Bottled without added colour or chill-filtration, its wonderfully rich hue, and decadently sherried profile certainly live up to the sumptuous style we've grown to expect from the distillery, and ought to be rather exciting for all the sherry monsters out there!
Spiced orange leads, with zesty lemon peels, sweet baking spices, and heaps of dried, sherry-soaked fruit.
The dried fruit progresses to full-on fruit cake, with wafts of cinnamon, earthen vanilla pod, and a crisp crunch of red apple.
Sweet, nutty oak, roasted malt, and yet more fragrant, spiced baked goods finish up with lingering notes of boozy sultanas and cracked peppercorns.
