A fabulous Tamdhu, matured exclusively in a combination of first-fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks for 12 years. Sherried Speyside whisky is always a winner, with oodles of fruit and spice. Check out that handsome retro bottle, too. Stunning stuff.
Orange Starburst, cinnamon swirls and toasted oak, along with some mint chocolate.
Lots of plum, juicy raisin, fried banana, raspberry jam doughnuts and oak spice.
Chocolate fudge and just a whisper of smoke, with sweet cinnamon returning.
I really like this and have been drinking this for a long time. It's full bodied and full of flavour, natural colour and the best drinking strength in my opinion at 43%. But now it's over £50 with the postage I think I will look elsewhere which is a shame as I do like this a lot but I think they are taking the p*ss now.
One of the best Speyside whiskys full of body and flavour one to savour on a winter evening.
I love this, nice on the rocks or neat. Smooth, dept of flavour.
Absolute belter of a purchase
I'm more well-versed with rums, and new to whiskey, so I took to tasting this alongside a dram of Glenkinchie and Glen Scotia... All 12 year (as 12 year Doorly's is my all-time favourite rum, and felt like a good starting point, as anything older, for me, gives too much of a burn.) On the nose, to a whiskey layman, it just smelt of whiskey... Couldn't really detect anything. Upon tasting, for me, it was savoury to begin with, followed by a kick of ginger, notes of zesty orange peel, and then the sweetness came through which I felt was quite a simple sweetness - think white sugar rather than honey, demerara or molasses... Holding it in my mouth, winey and smokey notes came through, and upon watering down to open it up a bit, a strong raspberry and floral hit, and for some reason, I could taste... Chapstick... I've not used any, so it's not coming from me! After watering down, this was the most fresh and floral of the 3 I'd tasted this evening
