Well-sherried single malt from the Tamdhu distillery, aged for a decade in sherry oak casks. As if that wasn't quite wonderful enough, this has been presented in a delightfully retro-styled bottle. Expect a litany of "Ooooh" and "Ahhhh" noises when you whack this on the table after a good meal.
Dried orange peel, red wine, pecan and raspberry jam.
Soft red fruit followed by brown sugar and spicy clove. A touch of chocolate-covered Brazil nut.
Crystallised ginger, cacao and juicy blackcurrant.
I heard so much about Tamdhu especially as I’m a sherry cask lover. Very disappointed with this one. No sherry or sweetness on the nose & nothing special on the palate. For me it was just like a bog standard lowish cost Speyside malt. Perhaps it was matured in an old refill sherry cask ?
nice sipping, not burning alcohol, but very very weak flavors and taste, very weak.
Have grown to love Tamdhu in recent years. This is a good entry level bottling to the distillery. Not a fan of the ABV as it lacks punchiness but it does make for a nice, easy dram at an affordable price.
Theres something about the 1o, a toffee flavour with a tinge of chocolate and I've tasted upto the 28year old but do like the 19 if you can get it.
I found it a bit thick & heavy so I bought some stones ginger wine and mixed it 60mls/40mls with a tumbler of ice now I'm in heaven
