    Talisker Storm

Talisker Storm was released in early 2013 as a no age statement whisky, which was matured in specifically selected refill and toasted American oak casks. An intense and vibrant dram, the Storm offers up plenty of distillery character alongside some smokier depth and complexity.

With a classic Talisker profile, a depth of beautiful flavours and a very reasonable price point, this is an ideal single malt for those thinking of exploring malts from the Scottish islands.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Initial brine, but not as abrupt as the 10 Year Old, quite creamy by comparison. Banana. Banana angel delight? Window putty, hint of sticking plasters and barbecues, citrus. White pepper develops towards the bottom of the glass.

    Palate

Thick and mouth-coating with wood smoke, brine, some tin and chilli heat too.

    Finish

Red chilli peppers and oak dryness with a hint of embers.

    Overall

A welcome addition to the Talisker range, and probably the smokiest whisky to be produced on the Isle of Skye.

    Brine and bananas

Weirdly, I get the banana sweets totally. Thankfully no putty! But lots of brine and tempted to try this with seafood. Very good indeed!

A fine single malt dram and great value

I am a big fan of Talisker 10 and in my market in NC, the storm is $50 compared to $70 for the 10. This bottle is a great value, all the balance and flavor of the 10 , in terms of spice, pepper, vanilla, caramel, oak, slight brine and moderate smoke, so I recommend it. Still would give a nod to Lagavulin 16 or Ardbeg uigeadail as more complex and smoky drams, but not a fair fight given they are $100 and $90 respectively in my area. If you like Talisker this is a must, if you don't know Talisker yet and want to start with this as your first Talisker, this is a solid dram.

Exactly what the chaps at MofM said.

Oh I love this! Smoke and brine with TCP and foam banana sweets.

Another standout from the Masters on Skye!

Talisker 10, The Distiller's Edition, North 57°, all winners from the Talisker distillery, & this one is no exception! Typical salty brine & peat smoke strong up front, fades into a peppery citrus-like finish that just briefly lingers, but pleasingly so. Therein lies the puzzle. With no age statement known for certain, one is left to ponder. I'm guessing this is somewhere between 5-8 years old, as it just slightly lacks the depth of the classic 10. Not necessarily inferior, but it comes up distinctly unique, despite the strong flavors similar to the 10 up front. But, know this: I know some ppl out there full-on insist on age-statement to give a whisky a favorable review, or even a chance, but to those folks, I would say, you're the one that's missing out. It simply wouldn't be fair to dismiss this expression as "Talisker 10 Lite", as it has plenty, more than enough good, going on all by itself to stand on its own as a fantastic scotch whisky, age-statement or no.

Not an Islay, but has the subtle notes.

Beautiful whisky. NOT an Islay, has the subtle notes of peat and brine. If Lagavulin 16 is the *peatiest" whisky you like this top value a try.
