Talisker Storm Bottling Note

Talisker Storm was released in early 2013 as a no age statement whisky, which was matured in specifically selected refill and toasted American oak casks. An intense and vibrant dram, the Storm offers up plenty of distillery character alongside some smokier depth and complexity.

With a classic Talisker profile, a depth of beautiful flavours and a very reasonable price point, this is an ideal single malt for those thinking of exploring the island whisky category. If you're looking for a cocktail serving, this Scotch is simply begging to used in a Old Fashioned - now where you could find a recipe for one of those...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Initial brine, but not as abrupt as the 10 Year Old, quite creamy by comparison. Banana. Banana angel delight? Window putty, hint of sticking plasters and barbecues, citrus. White pepper develops towards the bottom of the glass.

Palate: Thick and mouth-coating with wood smoke, brine, some tin and chilli heat too.

Finish: Red chilli peppers and oak dryness with a hint of embers.

Overall: A welcome addition to the Talisker range, and probably the smokiest whisky to be produced on the Isle of Skye.

Talisker Storm Reviews

An Explosion of Flavor

This dram will please those who enjoy a peated Scotch. Although the peat and smokiness is a little underwhelming, there is a unique and flavorful complexity of sherry notes, dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. Sure, it's not the Islay heat and boldness but for the money, this a squirt of deliciousness.

This was given to me as a gift. I won’t buy it for myself

Peat. Peat. Peat. Smoke. And a drop of sherry.

Its been awhile since I had this one, maybe 2 years or so. I don't recall it being a peat bomb but this bottle I opened yesterday sure is. If you're looking for peat at a good price this is your dram. If you don't like peat then the bad reviews are your people. Perhaps a bit over the top.

best value in high quality scotch

I am a Lagavulin 16 fan. Second, I really like the Oban 14. But the talisker Storm, for the dollar, is the best I've found. It's my go-to, as I am a weekly scotch drinker and the value is tops on my list. I have impressed my Laga and Oban buddies with this, when I don't tell them the price point, the insufferable bastards they can be. It is a win, win, win proposition.

Water of Life

It's beautiful and so, so smooth, love it, best I've tasted to be honest,
The saying 'Whisky is the water of life', is so true in the case of Storm, got as present but will need to resupply, do not know why there are any negative reviews, thank you Talisker

Briney smokey goodness

A great NAS single malt for the money. Perfect for sipping around a bonfire. I use this as a beginning for the journey down smokey scotches.

The refined will find it surprisingly satisfying

This is a wonderful whiskey for its price point. The negative reviews must be from other distilleries. Tasting this for the first time brings you to the sea. As if you're drinking a whiskey on the shores of a land touching the north Atlantic. It is smokey, but not like an Islay, and has a clean finish that lingers, but only briefly. It is well worth a try, you may be surprised.

One of my all time favorites.

This has become one of my all-time favorite scotch's. Its smokiness is absolutely perfect for a scotch with no age. The price point is quite a plus too. From reading the reviews, you either like it or you don't. You must love the smoke/peat in a scotch to enjoy this bottle.

It's good, and worth the money, but I've had better.

I like how smooth it is, but I don't like that strong flavor on the back end: what is it, peat? Moss? Brine? I don't know, but if you open the top and smell it to me it smells like someone dropped some band-aids in the mix by accident. But it is smooth. It's just a really smoky smooth flavor. I have to drink more of it to be a fan. I have a bottle of Jameson Stout Edition that I think tastes better than this, and my bottle of Macallan 18 blows it out of the water. But Macallan is expensive, and once you've had the 18 it's really hard to go back to the 12. I would put this on par with Macallan 12.
