Talisker Skye was introduced in early 2015, named after the beautiful island on which the distillery resides. This expression brings with it a more well-rounded and sweet flavour profile packed with fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spice and traditional Talisker maritime notes.
Talisker Skye is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks. Talisker Skye whisky is perfect for those who perhaps find the classic Talisker flavour profile a bit too much, not to say that Talisker fans won't enjoy it too.
Sweet stuff, toffees and vanilla ice cream up front, almost grain-like. Becomes increasingly honeyed. There's a little coastal influence here too, just hints of a sweet Caol Ila perhaps, with very restrained smoke.
Honeyed toasted oak, sappy wood, only a little pepper and smoke, apple turnovers and hints of lemon and lime Opal Fruits. Fennel seeds.
Drying and slightly less sweet, hints of spice and smoke.
A more approachable, sweet Talisker. 'The Isle of Skye in June'.

First time I've tasted this single malt I'm no amateur all I get is smoke and not nice smoke overpowering coal fire
Very new to whisky and after a bit of experimenting came across this which has quickly become my go to and favourite. Its lightly peated and as it says tastes and smells of the sea.I have quite a few malts in my collection now, some far more expensive than this but I just love this stuff and always come back to it which is great because it's so accessible, always on offer in one of the main supermarket chains and stocked in most decent bars. Glenmorangie classic got me into whisky but Talisker Skye got me into peated whisky, a route I'm happy to stay down for the time being.
Sat here with a glass on the side. I perhaps prefer the 10 but this is not that bad. I just love to amuse myself with a dram in hand reading the rubbish some people write on here.
Solid lightly peated malt. I recommend to any peaty seeking drinker on a tight budget.
Can’t believe some of the reviews on here. This is a lovely dram. Quite sweet with a lovely pepperyness to it. Peat and smoke as well of course. Lovely after a roast dinner
