Talisker Skye was introduced in early 2015, named after the beautiful island on which the distillery resides. This expression brings with it a more well-rounded and sweet flavour profile packed with fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spice and traditional Talisker maritime notes.
Talisker Skye is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks. Talisker Skye whisky is perfect for those who perhaps find the classic Talisker flavour profile a bit too much, not to say that Talisker fans won't enjoy it too.
Sweet stuff, toffees and vanilla ice cream up front, almost grain-like. Becomes increasingly honeyed. There's a little coastal influence here too, just hints of a sweet Caol Ila perhaps, with very restrained smoke.
Honeyed toasted oak, sappy wood, only a little pepper and smoke, apple turnovers and hints of lemon and lime Opal Fruits. Fennel seeds.
Drying and slightly less sweet, hints of spice and smoke.
A more approachable, sweet Talisker. 'The Isle of Skye in June'.

My go to whisky is Lagavulin 16, and I also like Talisker 10, I enjoy the salty smoky notes. But I can’t say on first taste that I’m a massive fan of this Talisker version. I’ll give it another go since I got a bottle for £25 but I hardly get any smoke at all, it tastes almost artificially sweet to me.
It's an approachable Talisker. The DNA is there but it's softer and sweeter and actually delivers in a pleasant way. I like it. This is my first measure from a gifted bottle but I will buy it for myself again. It's surprisingly good. A thumbs up from me. Try it and see for yourself.
This goes way beyond a challenging and engaging malt. It has sweetness and peat but also an overwhelming medicinal taste that strips everything else from your palate and makes this impossible to enjoy. What a waste.
Disappointing and it seems an adverse change from a few years ago. Rough and unpleasant it seems astringent and there is no hint of smoothness. The finish is awful and I regret that I found nothing to recommend this malt. If I purchase from a good wine merchant and a bottle is 'not acceptable' then several will give a refund! Perhaps the distiller can compensate me for selling this wholly undrinkable malt?
I dont have a lot fo experience when it comes to Single Malt.. but i am quite familiar what is the bad taste and which is isn't. I heard this brand from a friend who enjoy having whisky every now and then- and when i got invited into another Friends house , asking me which i want to try in his Whisky shelves. I hurriedly pointed out the Talisker Skye . Oh Boy..really the old saying to "each his own" is defined with this bottle. The smell..the taste..the entry..the palate and the finish- this is it..this is the one for me i said in all excitement..everything about this particular whisky..I LIKE ! and this will always be a part of my collection-an introduction to a budding Whisk(e)y lover ;)
