Originally released for the Travel Retail market, Talisker's Dark Storm is matured in heavily charred oak casks, imparting yet more smoke and spice to the already intensely smoky whisky. A fantastic release from the distillery on the Isle of Skye.
Smoky bacon, black pepper and red chili, dressed with a touch of orchard fruit and golden malt.
Huge oak influence, with a big burst of smoke on palate entry. Beyond that, though, you find red fruit, citrus and fresh honey.
A very, very long finish, peppered with honey-roasted nuts.
I purchased this at a duty free store while traveling abroad, I am so glad I did. When I returned home and opened the bottle it was magnificent. If you have a chance to try this single malt, fans of Lagavulin 16 year single malt will love it.
The dogs bollocks. Spot on
Somewhat disappointing. Appears to contain young whiskies judging from the harshness at the back of the throat. Drinkable but not your classic Talisker. Stick to the age statement bottlings.
5 stars!!!!!!
I think this tastes amazing.. If you like Islay whiskies and if you like standar Talisker you will like this. If you dont like young Islays, you probably wont like this. Its the pepperiest spicyest Talisker ever, and its the smokiest.... This whisky compete with the smokiest whiskies on Islay as Laphroaig or Ardbeg. For me at a right price in dutyfree its a must have buy, but not for the price on this site. If you can get to a boat or a planetrip, and you like smokiest whiskies, then this is one to look for. Im sure its a bit young, 6-8 years I dont know, but the heavily charred casks works well...
