A fascinating Talisker here, released as part of Diageo's 2020 Special Releases! This 8 year old expression was aged in ex-pot still Caribbean rum casks - a first for the distillery! The result, delivered at cask strength, carries banana funk, a touch of engine oil, and meaty mezcal. Definitely worth checking out!

Sweet seaside vibe, crystallised citrus fruit, charred meat, slightly industrial. Foam bananas, stewed tropical fruits, along with a wisp of mezcal-like smoke.
Mouth-filling, with prickles of that characteristic Talisker pepperiness. The fruit becomes more caramelised, and the smoke becomes more bonfire-like.
Warming, tinned pineapple with water.
This is an extremely alcohol heavy coarse expression. Those who talk about rum cask finishing are kidding themselves. There is nothing refined about this - if anything it tastes like newmake. In no way worth the inflated price tag. At all.
Incredibly well rounded whisky. You get what you pay for. A very well executed twist on the normal talisker peppery taste.
