Talisker's home on the Isle of Skye sits on the line of latitude 57° North, hence the name of this bold single malt, bottled at a weighty 57% ABV.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
This used to be non chill filtered and natural colour. My present bottle is neither. Hugely disappointed. Like all the talisker range its gone backwards in quality recently. Still nice but just not stellar anymore.
Just opened a bottle of this nectar of Gods and WOW!! This is good, really good! Some citrus and smoke on the nose and the palate is very thick, some spice, some caramel sweetness and a little brine. Incredible mellow for 57% Add some water and the spiceness really kick in! Crazy stuff.
If you are ever in Ottawa,Canada go to the Highland Pub on Rideau Street. Went there for the first time to have a couple of drinks with an old buddy from high school. Great selection and very knowledgeable staff. I was ready to order the Talisker Storm and our waiter suggested the bump in price was worth giving the 57 North a try. What a fantastic whisky! There is so much going on, from the nose to palate and onwards. I'm not a fan of the burn anywhere in the tasting and this had none. Can't say much more about the composition as the tasting notes from MoM are pretty much bang on. I will be buying a bottle of this very soon....exceptional!
This is fabulous. For an NAS malt to deliver such a sublime experience is as rare as scotch mist and scotch mist certainly appears in the glass immediately after adding a little water. Like. Huge nose and flavour on the palate and long finish. Simply astounding and right up there with the Ardbeg NAS offerings.
It's a good whisky but lacks a bit of quality compared to Ardbeg Uigaedail and Corryvreckan as it's in the same price category. You need a bit of water to this and that's not cause of the alcohol, you need water to open up the flavours.
