From the Isle of Skye comes this Talisker single malt, which has spent 18 years in casks which previously held bourbon and sherry. A sweet and smoky malt, a must have for any Talisker fan. If you weren’t already convinced, this fabulous dram picked up the title Best Whisky in the World at the 2007 World Whiskies Awards too.
Quite clean and fresh. There is a mixed fruity sweetness with a spicy character. The peat and smoke rise with notes of perfume and thick oak. Hints of Calvados and a touch of acidity with ground ginger.
Thick, rich and full-bodied. Notes of spicy, peppery oak, espresso beans and wood smoke. A little allspice creeps in, there is a certain zesty character lurking somewhere. The spice builds and builds with utter intent.
Long, with peppery oak.
Not as good as it used to be! A slightly courser finish and the price increase is bordering on outrageous.
Was a superb dram at £80. Now at £200 it is a straightforward example of corporate greed, where the loyal customers have no worth at all. Shame
So many cheapskates here. Lovely classic and still worth the money for me (and I have to pay about 1.8 of the no vat price due to our insane customs)
3 years ago was £88 now its £173. Has the quality doubles, or have Diego got greedy. I'm not buying. INSTEAD a bottle of Leadig 18 for - around £88.
When I bought my first bottle of 18-year old Talisker in 2010, it was £43-odd; now it is at least £173. Had the price increased by the rate of inflation, it would now be about £63. Is the current 18-year old a completely different whisky or is there some profiteering going on? I shan't be buying it at the current price. What a pity.
